Controls the platform-wide Trade safety gate and emergency shutdown. When this gate is off, Trade cannot run anywhere, no matter what any event's own setting says.
Trade is an optional "what if / did" behavioral signal for one specific event — never a $30 charge, a debt, a required item delivery, or a fundraising checkout. Registering an intention creates a $0 WooCommerce demand request, with $30 stored only as a symbolic descriptive reference. No payment is collected here or anywhere on this page.
Checking this event's Trade setting…Controls the platform-wide Trade safety gate and emergency shutdown. When this gate is off, Trade cannot run anywhere, no matter what any event's own setting says.
May turn Trade ON or OFF for this specific event, while the platform gate permits it. An ordinary Host or Greeter cannot change this setting unless the organization has explicitly delegated that to them.
This is Trade's current, real state for the event you're viewing — it is not a platform-wide switch, and it is not the same for every event this organization runs.
Only for an enabled event, and only after server-side recognized-device, Miner, seller, and event-operator checks. The recipient reviews and accepts the explanation within a confirmed two-device Encounter — never from this page alone.
One successfully confirmed Trade signal creates exactly one linked $0 demand request, keyed to the Encounter so a retry can never create a duplicate. Its checkout amount is zero. No $30 is taken, transferred, or added to Play Dough.
A Host may later report on it. If real funds are later paid, that is reconciled with the recipient and treasury records outside the XP ledger — never inferred from this page or from XP.
Play Dough is community recognition for confirmed presence — like Monopoly money. It only accrues; it cannot be spent or cashed in. A confirmed Encounter's XP accrues immediately in HBC's append-only presence records; an unconfirmed or failed Encounter accrues none. Aggregate XP results will be published May 16, 2030.
A real $30 payment, if it happens, belongs in the appropriate payment and financial records, reconciled with the recipient and treasury records outside the XP ledger. The $0 demand request alone is never treated as money received or paid.
Monopoly analogy: think of a property marked "mortgaged" on the game board: it marks a condition that may change later. "Cashing in" here means documenting an actual, separate payment if one occurs. The analogy does not turn Play Dough into spendable money or create a real mortgage.
Everyone may read this page regardless of this event's Trade setting. The question below is a genuine, consent-disclosed HBC record when you answer it while a specific event is selected — kept completely separate from that event's RSVPs, confirmed Encounters, XP, and any WooCommerce request. Answering it alone never creates any of those.
This is a question about your interest, not a pledge, an RSVP, or a Trade offer.
You're viewing this as an authorized operator for an event with Trade enabled. In the real build, this action calls the authenticated hbc/v1/trade/offer route, which independently re-checks every gate server-side before it does anything — this button never bypasses those checks.
This action only appears for an authorized operator viewing an event where Trade is enabled — never as a public link, and never as a way to bypass this event's own Trade gate.
